EU Knowledge Hub - Thematic Panels

The main platform for experts to network, discuss, brainstorm, and consolidate knowledge on preventing radicalisation

The EU Knowledge Hub on Prevention of Radicalisation runs Thematic Panels that bring together policymakers, practitioners and researchers working to prevent radicalisation and violent extremism across Europe.

What are the Thematic Panels?

The panels provide a platform for experts to exchange ideas, share knowledge and experiences, and develop practical policy recommendations for Member States. The topics of each of the seven Thematic Panels are aligned with EU prevention priorities, agreed with Member States on a bi-annual basis.

You can read more about the priorities in the Strategic Orientations on a Coordinated EU Approach to Prevention of Radicalisation (2024–2025).

How do they work?

Seven panels have been set up to generate, discuss and consolidate insights on specific focus topics. Each panel is led by two Co-leaders and takes a multidisciplinary and multi-agency approach to the challenges of radicalisation.

The panels serve as flexible spaces to explore emerging trends, promote collaboration, and develop cohesive strategies for prevention, in coordination with each other. While additional experts may be invited to contribute to specific panel activities on an ad hoc basis, thematic panels have a set membership throughout their mandate, with members appointed through a public call for expressions of interest.
