This conclusion paper summarises the main outcomes of the 1st meeting “Navigating extremism: How multiform extremism influences polarisation and community resilience at the local level?” of the Thematic Panel 4 Local Dimension, polarisation, resilience building, which took place in Brussels from the 3rd to the 4th of April 2025.
This first meeting allowed participants to get acquainted with the EU Knowledge Hub mission and objectives, whilst setting the scene for the Panel workplan. It benefited from various contributions, both from external experts and panel members, starting with the role and impact of hybrid confrontations and threats in the evolving landscape of play of extremism. Several case studies were presented to showcase the local manifestations and consequences of radicalisation processes.
Further, the role of disinformation was explored, and various good and promising practices to be deployed locally to build resilience.
This conclusion paper captures the main outcomes of the discussions, highlighting key takeaways and setting out recommendations for the next steps in the Panel’s work.
